SAJNA`s advocacy gathering for reducing of violence against journalists and the right to timely access to information in Balkh

The gathering was held in Balkh province to advocate for journalists rights and the right to access information.

In addition to members of the SAJNA, representatives of other media rights organizations, local government officials, journalists and civil society activists were attending this advocacy gathering.

Journalists in Balkh are concerned about the restriction on the access to information in this province.

They say that since three months with increasing of insecurity in districts of this province the authorities have not provided them with timely information about the ongoing situation.

SAJNA representative Farid Faisal called on the authorities to provide timely information to the media in order to facilitate impartial and balanced reporting.

Local officials in Balkh pledged to work with the media and journalists in the province to provide accurate and timely information.
