SAJNA calls on the Taliban that immediately release Akbar Ansari and stop the arresting of media activists in Afghanistan.

Taliban Intelligence has detained Akbar Ansari, a photo-journalist of Mehar Tv in Mazar-e Sharif, Balkh province.

Based on the information received from the family of Ansari, he was detained 7 days ago by the Taliban in the center of Mazar-e Sharif.

It is not yet clear where the Taliban have taken him.

This is not the first journalist that arrested by Taliban in Balkh, but they repeatedly detained and tortured journalists in Afghanistan since the Taliban took power in mid-August 2021.
